What HassleFreeTools is
HassleFreeTools is a collection of free online tools for everyday jobs: merging a PDF, shrinking a photo for an application form, counting the words in an essay, formatting JSON, or working out GST on an invoice. Every tool has its own page that explains how it works, what it supports and what it cannot do.
How the tools work
Most tools run entirely in your web browser. When you add a file, your browser reads it from your device, processes it with JavaScript and gives you the result as a download. The file is not uploaded to us, so we never see it. Each tool page states where the processing happens.
Because the work happens on your device, very large files can be slow on older phones. When that is the case, the tool tells you its limits up front.
What we care about
- Tools that actually work. A tool only appears on the site once it has been built and tested. Ideas that are not ready yet are not listed.
- Honest limits. If a converter cannot keep tables or fonts, or a calculator uses an assumption, the page says so.
- Privacy by default. There are no accounts for visitors, and optional analytics only run if you agree to them. Our own visit counts are anonymous and cookieless. If ads are shown, Google may set advertising cookies; visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked first. The privacy policy explains the details.
- Plain language. Instructions are written for people who just want to get a task done.
How the site stays free
The tools are free to use with no sign-up. To cover hosting costs we may show advertisements provided by Google AdSense. Ads are kept away from tool controls and download buttons, and they are always labelled as advertisements.
Who runs the site
HassleFreeTools is run by the HassleFreeTools team. Questions, bug reports and tool suggestions are welcome: contact us at [email protected].
