How to use Random Password Generator

  1. Step 1: Set your rules

Choose the length and character types that the website or app accepts.

  2. Step 2: Generate passwords

Create one or a batch using your browser’s secure random generator.

  3. Step 3: Store them safely

Copy a password into a password manager. It is not saved by this tool.

Secure random passwords in your browser

Passwords are generated on your device with the browser’s cryptographic random-number generator. This tool does not use Math.random, does not upload passwords and does not include them in analytics. If you require every selected character set, each password includes at least one character from every chosen set before its characters are securely shuffled.

The entropy figure is an approximate measure based on password length and the chosen character pool. It is useful for comparing settings, but it does not account for a website’s password rules, a compromised device, phishing or password reuse.

Use a password manager

Make every account password unique and store it in a reputable password manager. Copying a password can leave it in clipboard history, so clear or replace your clipboard after pasting when you share a device. Some websites reject certain symbols or impose their own length limit; adjust the choices to match their stated rules.

Limitations

  • Passwords are not saved, so store them before leaving the page.
  • Copied passwords can remain in clipboard history.
  • Websites can restrict symbols or lengths, so check their rules.
  • Entropy is an approximate setting comparison, not a guarantee against every threat.

Frequently asked questions

Are generated passwords sent to a server?

No. Generation happens in your browser with its secure random generator. The passwords are not uploaded or added to analytics.

How long should a password be?

Use the longest unique password a service accepts. A password manager makes long random passwords practical.

Why exclude look-alike characters?

Excluding characters such as I, l, 1, O and 0 can reduce mistakes when you must type a password manually.
