How to use Unit Converter

  1. Step 1: Choose a category

Select length, weight, temperature, data size or another measurement type.

  2. Step 2: Set the units

Enter a value and choose the unit to convert from and to.

  3. Step 3: Compare values

Read the result and the table of equivalent values in every unit for that category.

Standard measurement conversions

This converter uses standard international definitions for common metric, imperial and US customary units. It lists US gallons and imperial gallons separately, and shows decimal data sizes such as kB separately from binary sizes such as KiB.

Most categories use a fixed factor through a base unit. Temperature uses an offset formula, while fuel economy uses reciprocal formulas because distance-per-fuel and fuel-per-distance express opposite ideas.

Precision and local units

Results are rounded for display, but calculations use normal JavaScript floating-point arithmetic. Very large, very small or repeatedly converted values can show small rounding differences.

Traditional land units such as bigha and guntha vary by state and locality, so they are intentionally not included. Confirm the unit definition required for legal, property, medical or engineering work before relying on a quick conversion.

Limitations

  • Results use standard international definitions and normal floating-point precision.
  • US gallons and imperial gallons are different units; check which one you need.
  • Traditional Indian land units vary by state or locality and are not included.
  • Confirm requirements for legal, property, medical or engineering use.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between kB and KiB?

A kilobyte is 1,000 bytes, while a kibibyte is 1,024 bytes. The converter lists decimal and binary data units separately.

Which gallon does the converter use?

Both US and imperial gallons are available as separate units. Choose the one that applies to your measurement.

Why are bigha and guntha not included?

Their definitions vary by state and locality, so a single conversion could be misleading.

Calculate X% of Y, what percent X is of Y, percentage increase or decrease, reverse percentages, adding or subtracting a percentage and percentage difference.

Add or subtract hours, minutes and seconds. Find the difference between two times or add a duration to a start time.
