Random Number Generator

Generate random numbers, flip coins or roll dice instantly in your browser.

0 for whole numbers.

Up to 100 numbers at once.

Numbers are generated in your browser using the cryptographic random API. Nothing is sent to a server.

Runs entirely in your browser. Your files and text are not uploaded.

How to use Random Number Generator

  1. Step 1: Choose a mode

Pick Number, Coin Flip or Dice from the tabs at the top of the tool.

  2. Step 2: Set your options

For numbers, enter a minimum, maximum and how many you need. For coins, pick how many to flip. For dice, choose the count and sides.

  3. Step 3: Generate

Press the button. The results appear instantly. Press again for a new set.

How random are the results?

This tool uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) when available, which is the same source web browsers use for encryption keys. It produces numbers that are statistically uniform and unpredictable. On older browsers it falls back to Math.random, which is fine for games and everyday use but not for cryptography.

Coin flip

A fair coin has two equally likely outcomes. Flipping several coins at once shows the result for each coin and a summary count of heads and tails. Over many flips the counts should be close to 50/50, but short runs often look uneven — that is normal randomness.

Dice roller

Standard tabletop dice come in several shapes: 4-sided (d4), 6-sided (d6), 8-sided (d8), 10-sided (d10), 12-sided (d12) and 20-sided (d20). Each roll is independent, and the total is the sum of all dice. Rolling 2d6 gives a total between 2 and 12, with 7 being the most common sum.

Generating many numbers

Set the count to generate up to 100 numbers at once. The results are shown in a list you can copy. Each number is drawn independently, so duplicates are possible. If you need unique numbers, remove duplicates from the list or reduce the range.

Limitations

  • Numbers are limited to the range −999,999,999 to 999,999,999 and up to 8 decimal places.
  • Up to 100 numbers, 100 coins or 20 dice can be generated at once.
  • The results are not saved. Refreshing the page clears them.
  • On very old browsers without crypto.getRandomValues the fallback is Math.random, which is adequate for games but not for security purposes.

Frequently asked questions

Is this truly random?

It uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator, which produces results that are statistically uniform and unpredictable. That is as close to "truly random" as software can get without specialised hardware.

Can I get the same number twice?

Yes. Each number is drawn independently, so duplicates are possible, just as rolling a die twice can give the same face both times.

Is the coin flip fair?

Each flip has an exactly equal chance of heads or tails. Unlike a real coin, there is no bias from weight, spin or air resistance.

What dice types are supported?

The standard tabletop set: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 and d20. Pick the number of sides from the dropdown.

Are my numbers sent to a server?

No. Everything is generated in your browser. Nothing is sent over the network.
