Combine several PDF files into one document, in the order you choose. The files are merged in your browser and never uploaded.

How to use Split PDF
-
Step 1: Add your PDF
Drag and drop a PDF or choose it from your device. You see its page count and small previews of the pages.
-
Step 2: Choose how to split
Pick pages to extract, one file per page, a fixed number of pages per file, or your own page ranges.
-
Step 3: Split and download
Press “Split PDF”, then download the new file, or all the new files together in a ZIP.
Four ways to split a PDF
- Extract pages saves the pages you choose as one new PDF. Click the page previews, or type page numbers such as
1-3, 5, 8-. A range that ends with a dash runs to the last page. - One PDF per page saves every page as a separate file.
- Every few pages cuts the document into files with the same number of pages, for example every 2 pages to separate two-page forms that were scanned together. The last file holds whatever is left over.
- Custom ranges turns each range you type into its own file:
1-3, 4-10, 11-gives three PDFs. Ranges may overlap if you want the same page in two files.
The new files are named after the original and the pages they contain, such as report-pages-1-3.pdf or report-page-7.pdf. When more than one file is created, you can download them together in a ZIP file or one at a time.
What happens to the pages
The pages are copied into the new files exactly as they are, using pdf-lib, a JavaScript PDF library, usually in a background thread of your browser. Nothing is converted to images, so text stays sharp and searchable, and fonts, pictures, page size and rotation do not change.
Links between two pages that end up in the same new file keep working. Links to pages that were left out are removed, and no hidden copy of a left-out page is stored in the new file, so a page you extract to share does not carry the rest of the document with it.
Each new file is a complete PDF that holds its own copy of the fonts and images its pages use. That is why the split files together can be larger than the original.
Password-protected PDFs
A PDF that needs a password to open has to be unlocked first: open it with the password in a PDF app and save a copy without one. PDFs whose owner has restricted editing or printing are refused, because this tool does not remove such restrictions.
Privacy
Your PDF is read and split by JavaScript on your own device. It is not uploaded to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Limitations
- Bookmarks, fillable form fields and digital signatures are not carried over to the new files in working form.
- Previews are shown for the first 200 pages. Later pages can still be chosen by typing their numbers.
- Splitting a large PDF into hundreds of files takes time and memory. The tool stops if the new files would add up to more than 600 MB.
- PDFs that need a password, and PDFs with owner restrictions, must be unlocked first.
- The tool splits by page number. It does not read the text on the pages, so it cannot split at headings or blank pages.
Frequently asked questions
How do I save just one page of a PDF?
Choose “Extract pages”, click the page you want (or type its number) and press “Split PDF”. You get a new PDF that contains only that page.
Can I split a PDF into single pages?
Yes. Choose “One PDF per page” and press “Split PDF”. Every page becomes its own file, and you can download them all together in a ZIP file.
Does splitting change the quality of the pages?
No. The pages are copied as they are, without being turned into images, so text, pictures and page sizes stay exactly the same.
Why are the split files bigger than I expected?
Each new file is a complete PDF and carries its own copy of the fonts and images its pages use. When many pages share the same fonts, the split files together can be larger than the original.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened and split by your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to our server.
Can the same page go into two files?
Yes. With “Custom ranges”, ranges may overlap. For example, 1-5, 5-10 puts page 5 into both files.
